When I was appearing in RICHARD II and the North American premiere of Edward Bonds THE WOMAN at Stratford, Canada a fellow actor I had worked with in Macbeth prior to Stratford brought me a published copy of Glen Byam Shaw’s prompt book on the Olivier/ Leigh MACBETH ..I had seen this manuscript copy previously and found so many interesting approaches that Olivier instituted into his character…I knew it had to be brilliant ..in using them myself , it enhanced the power and dynamics that should succeed in playing this great role.
