Rebecca Screentests: Vivien Leigh Hair & Make-up

Posted in - cinema archive, screentests on May 3rd 2010 2 Comments

Hair and make-up tests for Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca. Vivien Leigh was tested with Margaret Sullivan and Anne Baxter. I left the commentary by film historian Leonard J. Luff in the video because I think it’s interesting.

As of now (2) people have had something to say...

I really don’t understand the appeal of Margaret Sullavan. She looked awful in these tests! I suspect that’s one of the reasons why she didn’t get the part ;)

If I didnt know what the make-up film for Vivien was for …I wouldve stated that it was from a make-up test film for Streetcar almost 10 yrs later. And she practically looks the same in 1949 as she did in ’39. What do you think Kendra?
